The Danu People's Liberation Front (DPLF) was formed on August 7, 2022, by Danu youth and local people's defence forces, with three directions and four objectives. The front has the Danu People's Liberation Army (DPLA), and its chair is Ko Aung Ngay.

Aiming at the liberation of all the oppressed in the country, building a Danu State that guarantees democracy and human rights, and building a federal democratic union that guarantees national self-determination, its members attended military training in territory controlled by an ethnic armed organization.

The DPLF/DPLA operates militarily in the Danu Self-Administered Zone areas of Pindaya and Ywangan as well as elsewhere in Shan State, together with the People's Defense Force (Danu). When the front was formed, the terrorist junta arrested, charged and imprisoned dozens of local residents, claiming they were linked to the group.

The DPLF/DPLA has run military training up to Intake 4, has invited those who wish to fight under the Danu flag to join, and has a strength of around several hundred. In addition to military operations, the front also carries out political activities, and on December 19, 2023, it issued a statement opposing and condemning the joint celebration by the terrorist junta and the Danu National Organization of the sixth Danu National Day falling on December 20.

On the same day, by decision of the DPLF/DPLA Central Committee, the front released its official flag. The red in the flag represents the strength and courage of the Danu people, the blue represents the freedom the Danu people have always wanted, and the white drum symbol represents the traditional Danu drum and the purity and honesty of the Danu people.

In addition to its own military operations, the front has fought as an ally together with the MDY PDF (People's Defense Force – Mandalay) in the Nawnghkio battle in April 2023 and in the Kyaukme and Hsipaw battles as part of Operation 1027 carried out jointly by the three Northern Alliance members in 2023.
