Myay Latt Bamar Defence Force

MBDFResistance Force

The Myaylatt Bamar Defense Force was formed on May 29, 2022, by workers, farmers, students and political activists of the Myay Latt (central) region, to uproot military dictatorship and achieve federal democracy. The young people who formed it had taken part in mass protests and the CDM movement at the time of the coup, and from as early as May 2021 switched to the path of armed revolution, receiving training from ethnic armed forces; some returned to the cities to operate as urban guerrillas, while others gained experience in ground battles. Only after gaining experience and recruiting new members and collecting weapons did they form the Myaylatt Bamar Defense Force.

Only after gaining experience and recruiting new members and collecting weapons did they form the Myaylatt Bamar Defense Force.

The Myaylatt Bamar Defense Force has three founding objectives: (1) ending all forms of dictatorship, including military dictatorship; (2) ending chauvinism and patriarchy, and achieving political equality and full human rights for every citizen; and (3) bringing about federal democracy and a social market economy, and basic social security.

The Myaylatt Bamar Defense Force has also set political policies. Its main line is uprooting the "three militaries". It will work to fight chauvinism and patriarchy and to achieve equality, self-determination and the right to shape one's own destiny. It aims for the emergence of a new society that brings political, economic and social equality and justice. In addition, it accepts and follows Part 1 of the Federal Democracy Charter drafted by the National Unity Consultative Council (NUCC). It recognizes the National Unity Government (NUG) and intends to work with it. For fighting military dictatorship and achieving federal democracy, it accepts ethnic revolutionary forces as key forces and will work to strengthen military and political cooperation.

The Myaylatt Bamar Defense Force is based and operates in the Myay Latt regions of Magway and western Bago, and is also active in eastern Bago. In Magway, it carried out urban operations in Aunglan, has built firm alliances with forces pushing into lower Magway, and has taken part with allies in clashes with the Burmese military. In western Bago, it has also built good alliances and carries out joint operations with local people's defence forces. Local people's defence forces under the NUG Ministry of Defence have also sent messages to its graduation ceremonies. In eastern Bago, it is frequently seen carrying out military operations jointly with Toungoo-based people's defence forces.

To date, the Myaylatt Bamar Defense Force has not joined as a battalion under the NUG Ministry of Defence. However, it has good relations with local people's defence battalions and units under the ministry. It has also built good relations with people's defence forces and armed forces not linked to the NUG Ministry of Defence, politically strong armed forces, and ethnic armed forces.

As Operation 1027 has spread to Rakhine and the Arakan Army (AA)'s offensives have pushed clashes into Magway, Bago and Ayeyarwady, the Myaylatt Bamar Defense Force has been taking part with other revolutionary joint forces in clashes with the Myanmar military in Bago and Magway.
