Dawei District Democracy Movement Strike Committee
The Democracy Movement Strike Committee – Dawei (DDMSC) was founded on the night of February 7, 2021, by a group of Dawei youths who were among the earliest to oppose the 2021 military coup, and has led the Dawei District democracy mass movement using non-violent methods such as protest and persuasion, non-cooperation and intervention.
The DDMSC is organized with a central committee and sub-committees for mobilization, social assistance, information, foreign relations and finance.
The DDMSC's long-term vision is democracy, ending military dictatorship, abolishing the 2008 Constitution, federalism, building a society with liberty, justice, equality and solidarity, and internal peace. Its programmes are to lead the Dawei District non-violent mass movement, carry out the civil disobedience movement, boycott and oppose investments and businesses linked to the military and junta, and support detained political prisoners, CDM staff and displaced people. Its positions are:
- It respects and abides by the provisions of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
- It accepts finding solutions to political problems by political means through dialogue. (It aims for a political outcome, through dialogue in which all who should take part can do so, that matches the wishes of all ethnic peoples.)
- It supports the people's just war of resistance.
- It opposes military targeting of civilians. (It opposes military targeting based on differences of skin colour, ethnicity, religion, sex/sexual orientation and political belief.)
- It completely rejects and opposes the (2023) general election the coup military council has announced it will hold unilaterally.
- It tolerates criticism and accepts and encourages diversity.
The DDMSC includes the Dawei Main Strike Column, the Education/Engineering Column, the LGBT Strike Column, the Launglon Township Democracy Movement Strike Committee, the Southern Dawei Strike Column, the Yebyu Township Youth Strike Column, the Kanbauk Area Strike Column, the Eastern Forest Strike Column, the Thayetchaung Township Democracy Movement Strike Committee, the Rose Women's Union (Dawei), and the Basic Education Students' Strike Committee (Launglon Township).
The DDMSC continuously leads anti-dictatorship strikes, the "Rose Women's Movement", village-based mass mobilization revolutionary film screenings, the global people's movement to block arms and money flows from Singapore supporting the terrorist junta, awareness campaigns to boycott military products and services, awareness discussions on topics such as leadership, human rights and gender equality, warnings to the public about military council troop movements, basic food assistance for displaced people, anti-dictatorship campaigns, rainy-season tree planting, mass mobilization work, and other anti-dictatorship activities.

Democracy Movement Strike Committee - Dawei organized on-ground talks on Leadership, Human Rights and Gender Equality in rural areas of Launglon, Taninthayi, on 19 September.
Rosy Women Campaign
Rosy Women Union (Dawei) staged a protest in Launglone, Taninthayi, to condemn male chauvinism and sexual exploitation on 12 September.
"Our Ambassador - Our Voice" Campaign
Pro-democracy activists launched "Our Ambassador, Our Voice, Our Representative" Campaign to call on the international community to continue the credential of NUG's UN Representative U Kyaw Moe Tun in the United Nations while rejecting the junta-appointed candidate.
