Arakan Army Announces Maungdaw Offensive, Urges Residents to Leave the Town
The Arakan Army (AA) announced that it would launch an offensive against all remaining terrorist junta military camps in Maungdaw Township, Rakhine State, and called on town residents to leave the town immediately from 9 p.m. on June 16.
The AA has already captured almost all terrorist junta camps in Maungdaw Township, which lies along the Bay of Bengal. The announcement warned that the junta has prepared to use Maungdaw town like a military base and conduct urban warfare, and urged residents not to stay alongside the junta's defensive positions prepared on streets and inside houses, sniper positions on buildings, or places where troops are stationed.
