AA Seizes Maung Shwe Lay Naval Base in Thandwe
The Arakan Army (AA) announced that on the night of September 5 it fully captured the Central Naval Diving and Salvage Depot (CNDSD), commonly known as the Maung Shwe Lay naval base, in Thandwe Township, Rakhine State.
The naval base, located between Maung Shwe Lay and Kwin Waing village, was defended by more than 1,200 troops with heavy artillery support from the sea and from within the base to prevent it from falling. It was captured after nearly a month of offensive operations.
