PSLF Declares Meeting in Kunming Unsuccessful Despite Three Discussion Points
On February 19, the Palaung State Liberation Front (PSLF/TNLA) announced that although it had raised three demands during the talks, including halting both sides' troops where they stand and a ceasefire, the talks were difficult and ended only with an agreement to meet again, led by Chinese government Special Envoy Mr. Deng Xijun.
The meeting, arranged by China, took place on February 16 and 17 at the Haigeng Hotel in Kunming, Yunnan Province, China, between a PSLF/TNLA delegation led by Lieutenant General Tar Jok Jar and a terrorist junta delegation led by Lieutenant General Ko Ko Oo, commander of Bureau of Special Operations (1).
At the meeting, the PSLF/TNLA proposed (1) halting troops of both sides where they stand and ceasing fire; (2) stopping all military activity by both sides, including offensives, drone attacks, artillery fire and aerial bombing; and (3) allowing passage so that local residents in areas controlled by both sides can transport food and medicine. However, no agreement was reached. The date of the next meeting has not yet been announced.
