MNDAA issues Four Restrictions Amid Concerns of Foreign Interference in Myanmar's Affairs

MNTJP

In a statement issued in Chinese and dated October 9, the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) set out four restrictions on travel by its government staff and members, their participation in international events on Myanmar, and their giving interviews to news media, saying some foreign countries are planning to interfere in Myanmar's internal affairs.

The statement said Myanmar's national situation could undergo severe and significant changes, and that the restrictions aim to prevent the party and army from being coerced by foreign forces amid the complex internal situation and from becoming involved in unwanted disputes and conflicts.

The four restrictions are: no travel without permission to ASEAN and Western countries including the United States; no participation in international events on Myanmar affairs; no interviews without permission with media owned by Western countries including the United States; and no statements in the organization's name on confidential matters that may arise in Myanmar's political landscape or on Myanmar political affairs.
