NMSP (Anti-dictatorship) announces that it will fight Myanmar’s military regime

MSFCNMSP - AD

On February 14, 2024, the political and military leading group of the New Mon State Party (Anti-dictatorship) stated that they believed that the end of the military which staged a coup, military dictatorship, and all the dictatorship is the only way for the emergence of federal union with the right to national equality and self-determination; so NMSP secretary Nai Zeya, Deputy Commander-in-chief Brigadier-General Salun Htaw, including the party leader and party members, the troops who have the same belief and position will fight together with ethnic resistance organizations, and the forces of the Spring Revolution.

This belief and position were thoroughly discussed at the 11th Party conference; still, the decision was to deal with the terrorist military group based on the 2023 Bilateral Ceasefire Agreement. Thus, they issued this statement because the decision to deal with the terrorist military group could not be accepted. The terrorist group committed arbitrary arrest and killing of civilians, artillery shelling, flight attacks, and burned houses in Kyaikto, Thaton, Bilin, Kyaikmaraw, Thanbyuzayat, and Ye Townships so it is no longer possible to continue to hold political meetings.

Since 1995, the NMSP has agreed to a ceasefire between the military junta and U Thein Sein's government to resolve the political problem through political means and has signed the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA) during the NLD-led government.

The Mon State Federal Council (MSFC) has issued letter No. 3/2024 that it welcomes and supports the statement of the New Mon State Party against military dictatorship, conducts military cooperation, and continues political negotiations.
