NUG Defence Secretary Retires from Post
U Naing Htoo Aung, Permanent Secretary of the National Unity Government (NUG) Ministry of Defence (MoD), announced on his social media page on February 9 that he had retired from all duties related to the ministry.
U Naing Htoo Aung also wrote that although he is retiring from his ministry duties, "I am not retiring from the revolution at all and will continue to take on whatever duty falls to me. I have a completely clear conscience about what I did while in office and take full responsibility for every matter I handled during that time." He had served in the post continuously since the NUG–MoD was formed, and is also a member of the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH), made up of representatives elected in 2020. The NUG has not yet issued any statement regarding the permanent secretary's retirement.
