ABFSU Protests Against Pale School Authorities and Pa Thone Lone Members
On June 30, the Pale Township Students' Union (ABFSU) and local residents protested against the school authorities and the "Pa Thone Lone" group under the NUG Ministry of Home Affairs, because the rules for applicants to basic education schools opened by the National Unity Government (NUG) Ministry of Education in Pale Township, Sagaing Region, included restrictions on freedom of expression and freedom of association, violating the basic human right that "everyone has the right to education freely."
Protesters chanted while holding vinyl banners reading "Fight the Four Cuts", "Uproot the fascist military", "Oppose counter-revolutionary acts", "No to repression of students", "No to Pa Thone Lone" and "The people's democratic cause must surely win."
The ABFSU stated that members of the "Pa Thone Lone" group rammed comrades taking part in the protest with motorcycles, physically assaulted them and threatened them.
